As with all the other Wetherspoons I've visited so far (about 20) good food, cheap drinks, pleasant staff, and clean toilets.
Ordered and paid for 4 different breakfast on the app within a minute cups brought to table for drinks then within 10min breakfast was served by polite and efficient waitress good size portions very tasty and all for less than 20quid in nice pleasant surrounding.
Spoons in centre of Spennymoor. 1 minute walk to either Durham or Bishop Aucland bus stops. Light and airy Spoons with good selection of real ales. Usual menu. Look for managers specials at the bar.
Quiet on a morning, popular and full by 10.30. the name comes from the old name for the building about 100 years ago when electric lighting was still quite rare. the venue is a town centre wetherspoons chain pub come restaurant and so has the same menu and facilities
OK, it's a Wetherspoons so if you've ate at one before, you know what to expect. I have given this pub four stars for its decor, it's modern, fresh and some distance away from the usual Wetherspoons rework of a traditional pub. Don't get me wrong, I really like a traditional pub too.The Grand Electric Hall stands out from the surrounding high street and was quiet despite it being late lunchtime on a Sunday probably because no one really wants to go to Spennymoor any more. I remember as a kid going to the indoor market on Jubilee Walk but unfortunately it is long gone as have most of the shops on the walk.
